a commercial plugg

ok, if you are in grad-school, you need this program. what does it do for you? everything. you choose the format (chicago, apa, etc...), you build your library... you click, you drop notes in text or footnote, you plop the info in your bibliography. one click... basically it knocks about 4 hrs off each paper... this program has changed the way i really feel about papers. ok, i'm done. here for student price.

so, you think it is worth the price? i learned about it and debated and debated...but it sounded like a beautiful thing.

if you take 4 classes a trimester with an average of 2 major papers per class, you are looking at around 24 papers a year at aprox 3 hrs of citation work per paper (72 hrs). do that for 3 years of gradschool and you are looking at 216 wasted hrs.
so for 100 bucks... it aint so bad if you ask me. plus your research gets better because you aren't inhibited by the laziness to cite those few extra sources that go above the minimum required...

I have a demo of a similar program called Bookends which a lot of academics (especially those in the Mac world)n swear by. It's cheaper than Endnotes, but I'm not sure how the user-friendliness of the two compare. I haven't actually used Bookends within a paper yet, but I've compiled a master bibliography of works I'minterested in, and citations are really easy to enter into it. Most can be downloaded from a library's database. Can anyone else compare the two products from personal experience?

I just ordered Endnote and can't wait to get citing. But what is this Bookend I hear? We must find the better product.

welcome to the promise land josue. i don't know anything about bookend, but if pedro says it's a good mac product... you might want to check it out. personally, i'm anti mac (simply because i don't have one).

Phnil,

I was once a Mac agnostic, but now that I own one, I will probably never go back. If anyone is interested in bookends (which, I think only runs on Mac OS), visit http://www.sonnysoftware.com/

what's the difference b/w "student edition" and the regular one? is that just the price adjustment?

i think the student edition is a little less beefy... but i'm not sure how. i can't imagine i'd ever be doing anything it can't handle- i mean, you have access to every major library in the world. but i'm not entirely sure...
