thanks for this, phil. i needed a visual reminder that Jesus is the resurrection and life... that he brings life from death and brokenness... that though the coldness of winter is all around, we can have hope for redemption come spring...
thanks for the feedback guys. when i painted it i had an image of a bird ascending with feathers falling in my mind, but several people have noted the treeishness with leaves falling. i love what the reader brings to the text... even more interesting that the author's intent... ah hermeneutics.
I saw feathers. And now the leaves interest me since there is no tree. Thanks for sharing your work. What brought about a crucifixion picture at the beginning of Advent?

I should clarify--Christ was hung on a tree, yet there is no cross in this picture. The viewer places it in.

... but look up in hope for the redemption of spring...
