a call to stop writing and publishing
once in a while you read a book and think that the world needs to stop printing books because the one we need has already been written. usually these books are subversively short, simple and unassuming. this has been one of these books- i almost underlined every line in entire text! these kind of books are never long, always have ugly covers and will always get overlooked for a more appealing articulate and thicker publication. two more books that fall in the same category for me are this one and this one. let us put a halt to all further writing and publishing until everyone has read these books and realizes that what needs to be said has already been said.

Gotta disagree with the ugly covers comment. That typography work on Theology of Play is so beautiful. It reminds me of the type I used for my wedding. You can see it here.
Nouwen's old book cover is also pretty good. I think that it's the current "pop" books that have the worst design. Anything released by emergent or zondervan these days is sure to have way too many colors and abusive type.
you are right about that josue, i had pop christian books in mind with that statement. you are definitely the guy with the eye for that sort of thing!
